Trump hosts Meloni at Mar-a-Lago
Italy’s Prime Minister is said to have good contacts with the Trump camp. The future US President is now receiving them in Florida a little more than two weeks before his return to the White House.
The future US President Donald Trump received Italy’s right-wing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. Several journalists reported on the meeting on Platform X. “She has really taken Europe by storm,” Trump said of Meloni, a Wall Street Journal reporter reported.
A journalist from CBS published a photo in which, alongside Meloni and Trump, Marco Rubio, who is set to become US Secretary of State, can also be seen. According to the information, Trump and Meloni are said to have had dinner together. Trump then took the head of government to see a documentary about how conservatives had become victims of the justice system. Trump sees himself as being unfairly persecuted by the justice system.
Good relations in the Trump camp
The leader of the right-wing party Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy) is considered the European head of government who has the best relations with the Trump camp. Meloni also maintains a friendly relationship with US billionaire Elon Musk, who advises the Republican and is currently often seen at his side. Initially there was no indication that Musk was present at the meeting with Meloni.
The Republican Trump will move back into the White House on January 20th. The outgoing incumbent Joe Biden, in turn, is expected to visit Rome next week.
