The Houthi militia repeatedly attacks targets in Israel. The day before the start of the agreed ceasefire for the Gaza Strip there is another air alarm.
According to the army, Israel was attacked again with rockets from Yemen shortly before the agreed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. There were air alerts in Tel Aviv and other parts of the country and people rushed to shelters. The Houthi militia confirmed the attack. It was aimed at the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv. A short time later, the Israeli army reported a second attack from Yemen.
Both projectiles were intercepted, the army said. There were no reports of injuries or damage. Since the rockets are fired at high altitudes, debris is spread over a large area. Parts of the first rocket hit the area around Jerusalem, the Times of Israel newspaper reported.
The pro-Iranian Houthi militia has been shelling Israel for months. According to her own statements, she wants to support the Islamist Hamas, which fights against the Israeli army and triggered the Gaza war with its terrorist attack on Israel more than 15 months ago. In return, Israel and Western allies repeatedly bombed targets in Yemen.
A ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, initially scheduled to last six weeks, is set to take effect on Sunday. During this time, 33 Israeli hostages are to be exchanged for more than 700 prisoners held by Israel. It was questionable whether the Houthis would then stop shelling Israel and also merchant ships off the coast of Yemen.
