The first three hostages are back in Israel. Hamas has now confirmed the date for the next exchange of abductees for Palestinian prisoners.
According to Hamas, the next release of Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip in exchange for Palestinian prisoners will take place on Saturday. The Islamist terrorist organization confirmed the appointment in a short message on Telegram. According to the agreement reached with Israel, four abductees are to be released. After a six-week ceasefire took effect, Hamas released three female Israeli hostages on Sunday as part of the first phase of the agreement. In return, Israel released 90 Palestinians from prison.
In the first of three phases of the agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt and the USA, a total of 1,904 Palestinian prisoners are to be released from Israeli prisons in exchange for 33 of a total of 94 hostages. At least 34 of those abducted in Gaza are already believed to be dead. Whether a permanent end to the fighting in the Gaza Strip can be achieved depends on further negotiations, which are scheduled to begin in around two weeks.
