Donald Trump wants to move the almost two million people in the Gaza Strip and is supported by Israel. The country justifies the plans with violence by Hamas.
The Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz has instructed the army to prepare a plan for the “voluntary departure” of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The step was followed by a proposal by US President Donald Trump to move two million Palestinians from the coastal strip.
In the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the US President announced that the United States would “take over” the Gaza Strip and transform it into an economically flourishing “Riviera of the Middle East”. According to Trump’s will, the residents of the area will in future be accommodated in other Arab countries in the region.
The plan met with criticism internationally. The US government later put Trump’s plans into perspective. “It wasn’t intended as an hostile step,” said Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. He spoke of a “very generous offer” by the president. The United States is only concerned with making the coastal area habitable again. During this time, the Palestinians could not live there.
Israel’s Minister of Defense defends departure plans
Minister Katz welcomed Trump’s “bold plan”. “You have to allow the residents of Gaza to enjoy the same freedom of departure and migration as in any other place in the world,” said Katz. “The plan will contain the possibility of departure via land passages as well as special regulations for the departure of the sea and the air path.”
He accused Islamist Hamas to blackmail money from the people of Gaza by looting humanitarian aid goods and prevent them from leaving.
The Gaza War triggered the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023 in Israel. As a result of the fights, the Gaza Strip is largely destroyed. Right -wing extremist politicians in Israel strive to resist the area that Israel had cleared in 2005. However, this is not an official government policy.
