Donald Trump continues his fight against everything “Woke”. This includes transpersonen. He makes it clear that he only recognizes two biological genders.
US President Donald Trump has signed a decree with which transgender athletes from women’s sports are to be excluded. “With this decree, the war against women’s sports has ended,” said the 78-year-old right-wing populist on Wednesday when signing in the White House, and, like often, criticized the “militant transgender ideology” of the “radical left”.
The text entitled “No men in women’s sports” threatens to withdraw federal funds if they allow transgender athletes to compete in teams that do not correspond to their gender assigned at birth. Schools that give trans people access to changing rooms that do not match the birth family could also be sanctioned. Schools and universities are often considered talent in the United States. They therefore play a central role in professional sports.
The President took the opportunity to put pressure on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) because the United States is organizing the next Olympic Summer Games. “In Los Angeles 2028, my government will not stand by and see how men beat female athletes,” said Trump. For this purpose, his government will “reject all the visa applications of men who try to enter the United States fraudulently by identifying themselves as female athletes”.
Criticism of the procedure against transgender athletes
Transmens or transgender are people who do not identify with the gender they were assigned to them at birth. The new decree is part of a series of similar measures by the Trump government, including restrictions for transgender people in the US military.
The General German University Sports Association (ADH) criticized Trump’s decree sharply. “Reference to gender, origin or identity, university sports should offer the opportunity to participate in sport,” said ADH CEO Jörg Förster on request.
As with previous decrees, legal resistance is expected here. Opponents argue that there are far-well-founded evidence that transgender athletes dominate women’s sports on a large scale. They point out that sports organizations have already developed differentiated regulations that take into account scientific factors such as hormone levels.
Critics warn that such measures promote political polarization rather than creating fair solutions for sport. There is also concern that the exclusion of transgender youth could endanger their mental health.
The US President has a certain authority by decree, but his orders may not violate existing laws or the constitution. If you exceed legal limits or are considered discriminatory, dishes could cancel them.
