Berlin students defend themselves against Beatrix von Storch

AfD politician Beatrix von Storch should take part in an event in Berlin-of all things at a school that is named after resistance fighters in the Third Reich.
Some students from the Hans-and-Hilde-Coppi-Gymnasium in Berlin can vote for the first time in a few weeks. In order to support them in their decision -making, the school in the Karlshorst district organizes a panel discussion with politicians from various parties.
A guest is also invited from the AfD. The right-wing party represents Beatrix von Storch, AfD direct candidate for the constituency in which the school is located.
For many students, however, this invitation meets a lot of resistance. They protest against the decision of the school management, reports the “Tagesspiegel”. Under the slogan “No propaganda at our school”, the students want to protest against the event at the high school on Tuesday.

The couple Hans and Hilde Coppi, the namesake of the school, belonged to the “Rote Chapel” resistance group in the Third Reich and was executed by the Nazis. A student of the high school told the “Day” that against this background she felt the invitation of the AfD politician of Storch as a “insult”-especially because Storch’s grandfather was Reich Minister of Finance under Hitler and was convicted as a war criminal.

The school management of the Hans-and-Hilde-Coppi-Gymnasium left one star-request unanswered. For her part, Beatrix von Storch shouted against the students who want to unload: “Those who want to prohibit their mouths different is an enemy of freedom of expression and thus also of democracy,” she told the “Tagesspiegel”.
