“There should be no billionaires,” says the left. Shortly before the Bundestag election, she now discloses how this is to be achieved.
Die Linke presented a five-point plan in the election campaign with which it wants to halve the assets of German billionaires within the next ten years. “We think: There should be no billionaires,” says the paper of party leader Jan van Aken, about which the “Handelsblatt” first reported and the party executive on Saturday.
The left calls for the reintroduction of the wealth tax, a one -off asset for rich and other tax teasions. The additional income should flow into education and local public transport, for example.
Left wants to reintroduce wealth tax
Accordingly, the left wants a wealth tax with a rising rate: from a fortune of one million euros, one percent is to be due one percent annually, from 50 million euros five percent. Assets over one billion euros are to be taxed at twelve percent.
In addition, there is a one -off delivery for the 0.7 percent richest citizens in the concept. In the event of a fortune above two million euros, it should start with ten percent, with higher assets rising rates of up to 30 percent are planned.
More taxes in large inheritances
The tax rate for particularly large inheritance and the so -called rich tax for particularly high income should also rise: 60 percent should be due from an annual income of 250,000 euros, and 75 percent from one million euros. Capital yields should no longer be taxed with 25 percent, but should be progressive as work income.
Van Aken also justifies his advance with a reference to the United States: “The new government consists of super -rich and rights who do everything they can to secure their wealth and power.” In Germany, too, super rich got their money in politics with their money, he criticized.
The left has to tremble to re -enter the Bundestag, but has recently gained something in surveys and is currently five to six percent.
