Demonstrations from Rostock to Munich: The concern before a shift to the right is again on the streets in many German cities. In Munich alone there are more than 250,000.

Against the right and for democracy, several hundred thousand people nationwide took to the streets. According to police, more than 250,000 demonstrators came together in bright sunshine on Theresienwiese. The organizers spoke of more than 320,000 participants. According to the police, the protest was peaceful.

The demonstration was supported for diversity, human dignity, cohesion and democracy from different parts of society, from the Munich Film Festival to the institutions of churches and free welfare to the football clubs FC Bayern and TSV 1860.

According to the police, at least 20,000 people came to the grain market in Nuremberg. Among them were many young people and families with children. “We are many,” chanted people. Among other things, it was read on signs: “Our future should be colorful”, “human rights instead of right people” and “more heart, less merz.”

Almost 60,000 people on demos in Hanover and Bremen

It was also demonstrated in Lower Saxony and Bremen. According to police, around 24,000 people took part in a rally organized by the “Grandma’s against Right” initiative in the city center of Hanover.

In addition, there were further protests by left -wing groups in the Lower Saxony state capital, said a police spokesman. In some cases, attempts were made to prevent people from visiting an AfD election campaign stand. The police pushed away the approximately 250 -person group away from the stand.

According to the police, more than 35,000 people gathered in the city center of Bremen, the organizers spoke of more than 50,000 participants.

About 25,000 people in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse

There was also protest in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse. As the police said, 13,000 people started in Gießen after a rally against the right. 8,000 people gathered in Darmstadt. The expected number of around 1,000 participants was significantly exceeded.

Already in the morning there was a demonstration in Mainz under the motto “A world that holds together – Mainz chooses cohesion”. The police counted around 4,000 participants. In Kassel, around 800 to 1,000 people came to call the “Grandmas Against Right”. There were other smaller rallies of the “Grandmas against Right” with a few hundred participants in Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern.

3,000 people each demonstrate in Hamburg and Rostock

According to the police, around 3,000 people protested peacefully against right -wing extremism in Hamburg. A wide alliance, including the Hamburg pier, had called for the demonstration, the Hamburg alliance against the right as well as other initiatives against the right and to support refugees.

In Rostock, around 3,000 people took to the streets for democracy and against right -wing extremism. Under the motto “All against fascism – Rostock stands together!” People moved through the city center. The union of the persecuted of the Nazi regime – Association of anti -fascists (VVN – BDA) called for the demonstration. According to the police, the demonstration was peaceful.

Hundreds of thousands of people all over Germany took to the streets last weekend. Many protested against the joint Bundestag vote of the Union and AfD to tighten migration policy. There will be further demonstrations on Sunday, including in Berlin and Cologne.
