During the brittle ceasefire for the Gaza Strip, 13 Israeli hostages were exchanged for hundreds of Palestinians. Now suddenly everything is on the brink.
The Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip shifts the next release of Israeli hostages intended for this Saturday indefinitely. To justify, Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida announced that Israel does not adhere to the agreement on the ceasefire.
On Saturday, the extremists actually wanted to release three more hostages. This will only be possible if Israel follows the agreements again, it was said. However, Hamas basically stands by the agreements on the ceasefire that has been in effect since January 19 and the exchange of hostages for imprisoned Palestinians, confirmed Obeida.
Hamas allegations to Israel
Israel, on the other hand, delayed the return of displaced persons in the northern Gaza Strip, opened the fire at various points on the coastal strip and the import of relief goods was disabled, Obeida justified the shift in release. Hamas, on the other hand, adhered to all agreements.
Israel has repeatedly rejected allegations that the agreements are violated. The Israeli government spokesman David Mencer rejected allegations, Israel blocked aid deliveries.
Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz described Hamas’ announcement as a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement and the agreement on the release of the hostages.
A total of 33 hostages
“I have instructed the IDF to prepare for every possible scenario in Gaza with the highest willingness to alert and protect the towns (on the edge of the Gaza Strip),” he said.
Since the beginning of the ceasefire in the Gaza War on January 19, Hamas has released 16 out of a total of 33 Israeli hostages in five release promotions, which are to be handed over by Hamas during the first phase of the three-stage agreement. In addition, the terrorist organization left five Thai countries, but not as part of the agreement with Israel. In return, Israel dismissed 583 Palestinians detained by planned 1,904 prisoners.
