Why do I need the election notification?
The election notifications are currently being sent for the Bundestag election on February 23. What they are good for, why not and what went wrong – an overview.
For many citizens, they probably already stuck in the mailboxes: the election notifications for the Bundestag election on February 23. Anyone who owns German citizenship and is of legal age on election day will receive this letter.

Not preserved election notification? You should do that
However, if you have not received any election notification by February 2, you should definitely ask in the municipality of the respective main residence. Because then it may be that you are not in the electoral register. To be allowed to choose, you have to be entered there.
How do I know in which polling station I have to choose?
The election notification therefore says that you can choose – and it also includes further important information: in which polling station you should choose and what your address is. This is often schools or other public institutions.
Incidentally, there is a separable card on the election notification, which can be taken to the polling station on February 23, but does not have to. It is sufficient if you have a identity card or a passport to show yourself in the polling station.

And if you cannot or do not want to go to the polling station on the election day, you can also apply for postal voting with the election notification.
Incidentally, mistakes have already happened in the current preparations for the Bundestag election: Gersheim in Saarland printed a wrong date on the notifications. There the election day was dated to March 23 – which of course is not true. Unfortunately, there was an unhappy mistake in the pressure. The election date is March 23rd instead of the 23.2. This does not have practical effects, it said. Nevertheless, new letters would be sent with the correct date.
In Magdeburg there were booklet transformers in addresses of voters and polling stations. Here too, new notifications should be sent.
