“You have money, Mr. Amthor!”: Dispute at Maischberger with AfD politician
In the ARD show “Maischberger” there is a violent debate between Philipp Amthor (CDU) and Bernd Baumann (AfD). In some statements, Amthor can only smile.
It all starts with a question about the D-Mark. In the ARD talk show by moderator Sandra Maischberger, Philipp Amthor (CDU) and AfD politician Bernd Baumann sit next to each other on Wednesday evening. Maischberger wants to answer quickly from the two: to inheritance tax, to wind turbines, to coal. But she solves her with her question “Do you still have D-Mark at home?” A word battle of the two politicians who contribute to the amusement of the audience.
Amthor has to laugh when asked: “No,” he says and grins. Then the AfD politician becomes very serious again: “It can’t go on with the currency.” He speaks of inflation and “expropriation”. Then he suggests: “You could make a Nordeuro for the stable countries, for the less stable countries a southernuro.” Amthor frowns his forehead, shakes his head. “There are many options,” says Baumann. Then a small chamber game begins.

That goes on a few more moments. Baumann accuses Amthor that he does not take note that “people” suffer from inflation. Amthor goes over it: “You have money, Mr. Amthor!” He calls. Then Maischberger asks: “Do we have to get loud?”
At the end of this exchange, Amthor still says: “Many people would have fallen back on the economic development of the past 16 years if they look at how Habeck has three years.” Baumann then: “You want to coalate with him now.” Then Philipp Amthor only says: “Yes, rather than with them.” And at that moment the audience believes that.
