Ukraine War: Donald Trump assumes meetings with Vladimir Putin in February

According to his own statements, US President Donald Trump will “probably” meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin before the end of the month. Trump said this on Tuesday in front of reporters in his estate Mar-A-Lago in Florida. After the talks between representatives of the United States and Russia in Riad, he was “confident” in relation to an agreement with Moscow to terminate the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, which has been going on for three years.

Trump also “fully” advocated that European troops secure a possible peace in Ukraine. The United States is not in demand because they are “very far away”.

At the same time, Trump was disappointed with the reaction of the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, who complained that on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia “once again talking about Ukraine about Ukraine”. At the first meeting in Riad, Washington and Moscow had agreed negotiations to settle their differences and to quickly end the Ukraine War. Ukraine and Europeans were not invited.

The EU foreign commissioner Kaja Kallas meanwhile warned the United States not to “fall in Russian traps” to divide the West. In the evening she wrote in online service X, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed the European Foreign Minister about the talks in Riad. “Russia will try to split us. Don’t let us fall into your traps,” warned Kallas. “By working with the USA, we can achieve a fair and permanent peace – in the sense of Ukraine,” she emphasized.
