Criticism of Selenskyj

Kremlin agrees “completely” with Trump’s position to Ukraine

Donald Trump has shot himself up on Ukraine’s President Selenskyj. This is very well received by Vladimir Putin. However, the Kremlin also points to “disagreements”.

According to the latest statements by US President Donald Trump on Ukraine, the leadership in Moscow sees a “complete” agreement. “We fully agree with the American government,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow on Thursday. The United States had “spoken of the need to create peace as soon as possible and to achieve this through negotiations,” he said.

“We had already mentioned that this position is cheaper for us than that of the previous government.” Peskow continued that it had been decided to “start the resumption of the Russian-American dialogue in all areas”.

Peskow responded to a possible new prisoner exchange between Moscow and Washington. “This topic is on the agenda of our bilateral relationships, it cannot be ruled out,” said the Kremlin spokesman. Both sides had met on Tuesday for talks in Saudi Arabia.

Peskow described the USA as a “main locomotive”, which made the “greatest financial contribution” to maintain the conflict in Ukraine. There is currently “little concrete” to achieve a solution to the conflict – especially due to “disagreements between Washington and Kiev,” said the Kremlin spokesman.

Peskov’s statements took place one day after US President Donald Trump sharply criticized his Ukrainian colleague Wolodymyr Selenskyj and described it as a “dictator”. Trump also repeated positions of the Kremlin in several questions. Selenskyj wanted to receive the US special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, in Kiev on Thursday.
