Alice Weidel was born on February 6, 1979 in Gütersloh. She spent her childhood in the East Westphalian small town of Harsewinkel. Her father Gerhard was an industrial engineer and sales representative, her mother Margitta was a housewife.

After graduating from high school, Weidel studied folk and business administration at the University of Bayreuth and completed her studies in 2004. In her first job, she worked as an analyst at the Goldman Sachs investment bank in Frankfurt from 2005 to 2006.
