Military aircraft crashes over residential area in Sudan – 46 dead
Again and again civilians come between the fronts in the power struggle in Sudan. There were also many civilian victims when a military plane crashed.
At least 46 people were killed in the crash of a Sudanese military aircraft in the greater area of the capital of Khartum. Shortly after the start on Tuesday evening, the machine crashed over a residential area in Omdurman.
As the Ministry of Information reported in Khartum, 17 military members died on board the machine, including high -ranking officers. After completing the rescue and salvage work in the crash area, the number of civilians killed was given as 29. In addition, ten people were injured, it said.
It was initially not known whether the aircraft had technical problems or possibly shot at by the Miliz RSF before the crash.
There has been a bloody power struggle in the country in the northeast of Africa for almost two years. Pulpter Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who commands the RSF, face each other.
According to UN, the conflict has led to the flight of more than 12.5 million people within the Sudan and to the neighboring countries. In parts of the country, famine threatens. International attempts at mediation have so far been unsuccessful.
Government troops recently reported area gains
While the army has made important regional profits in the greater Khartum area and in the agricultural state of Dschaira in the past few weeks, the RSF controls most of the western region of Darfur, among other things. War crimes and human rights offense are accused of both sides.
