Hamas handed over four dead Israeli hostages and thus fulfilled its promise for the first phase of the ceasefire. It is not good about the second phase and the remaining living hostages.

The Islamist terrorist organization Hamas handed over the corpses of four Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip and thus fulfills its commitments for the first phase of the ceasefire. The Israeli government and the forum of relatives and friends of the hostages confirmed the identity of the dead.

“With deep grief we have the news of the identification of Schlomo Manzur, Tsachi Idan, Ohad Jahalomi and Itzchak” Itzik “Elgarat”, the forum said. All four were kidnapped on October 7, 2023 in the Hamas attack on Israel.

Hamas handed over a total of 33 hostages – 25 alive and eight dead. Israel should release a total of 1,904 Palestinians in exchange for the 33 hostages during the first phase of ceasefire, which ends at the weekend. Of the remaining 59 Israelis in the Gaza Strip, only 27 are alive. The living should be released in a second phase. In a third phase, the handover is also provided for the dead.

Hamas: Further release only if the ceasefire

The Hamas confirmed that she would only release these hostages if Israel adheres to the agreements and talks about the second phase of the ceasefire. In the course of the day, Israel will send a delegation to talks to the Egyptian capital Cairo, the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. Together with the USA and Qatar, Egypt conveys in the conflict. The Israeli government did not say what the Israeli representatives should negotiate about and what attorney they have. According to unconfirmed Israeli media reports, Israel’s government could first strive for an extension of the first phase and request the release of further hostages

According to the agreements, the weapons should also remain silent beyond the end of the first phase as long as negotiations on a second phase run. The third phase provides for a reconstruction of the largely destroyed Gaza Strip and an alternative government without the participation of Hamas.

So far, both sides have not yet been seriously negotiated over the second phase. In this second section, all living hostages should come back and Israel has to completely remove his troops from the coastal strip. The war is to be ended permanently, which the right -wing coalition partners of the Israeli head of government Benjamin Netanyahu reject. They demand to continue the war until Hamas is completely destroyed.

Israel wants to leave troops in parts of the Gaza Strip

Israel has just questioned a complete troop deduction. For example, the soldiers would not be deducted from the Philadelphi corridor along the border of the Gaza Strip to Egypt, Defense Minister Israel Katz said in the morning. This should make it impossible for Hamas to smuggle weapons, equipment and other supplies through tunnels under the border.

This refusal could endanger the ceasefire and the return of the remaining Israeli hostages. As part of the ceasefire, it was agreed that the Israeli forces would gradually withdraw from the Philadelphi corridor. The withdrawal should begin on the weekend and be completed around a week later. However, the Israeli government had already questioned this.

Hand over dead hostages at night to the exclusion of the public

The four dead hostages were handed over by Hamas to representatives of the Red Cross on Thursday night. As required by the Israeli government, the handover was not staged as a macabre spectacle with armed Hamas fighters and loud music when handing over the coffins. Israel had made this a prerequisite for the release of further Palestinian prisoners.

In return for the handover of the dead hostages, around 600 Palestinian prisoners were released according to Palestinian information. The prisoners – including 50 with lifelong prison terms – were supposed to have released on Saturday last week in exchange for six Israeli hostages. Out of anger about the degrading Hamas ceremonies in previous transfers of living and dead hostages, Israel’s government pushed a stop and temporarily suspended detention.

No Hamas propaganda show

HAMAS has always used the hostage of the hostage to the demonstration of power and made the fate of people captured for many months under cruel conditions for a spectacle for onlookers. The kidnapped people were often demonstrated on a stage and visibly received instructions to smile and wave the waiting crowd of armed Islamists. Last weekend, a Israeli had to kiss two hooded Hamas people on their foreheads.

The procedure for the handover of four dead hostages last Thursday – including two toddlers, who are also German citizens – met with outrage internationally. Hamas had laid the coffins on a stage, while numerous cheering onlookers and dozens of hooded Islamists were gathered at the place of handing over and loud music was played.

The war was triggered by the unprecedented massacre on October 7, 2023, in which Hamas terrorists and other Islamists killed around 1,200 people and abducted more than 250 more from Israel into the Gaza strips.

Since then, according to the health authority controlled by the Hamas, more than 48,300 people have been killed, including many women and minors. The numbers make no difference between fighters and civilians and cannot be confirmed independently, but are classified as fairly credible by the United Nations.
