Transgender soldiers in the US Army should look around for a new job: The Pentagon is now implementing a decree of the US President, which he had signed in January.
According to a paper from the US Department of Defense, transgender soldiers should be excluded from the military, provided that they do not receive an exemption. In the template of the ministry submitted in court on Wednesday, you will actually be banned from entering the army or service there. US President Donald Trump had already signed a disposal for transgender soldiers in January. Among other things, it says that a man who identifies himself as a woman is “not compatible with humility and selflessness that a soldier is asked”. In February, the Ministry of Defense said that the military would no longer include transgender people in the army and no longer make any procedures in connection with gender conversion in members of military personnel. The paper from late Wednesday evening continues.
US Army: Up to 15,000 soldiers affected
Now it is said that the Ministry of Defense has to create a procedure to identify transgender soldiers and then dismiss them from the military within 30 days. “It is the policy of the US government to determine high standards for operational readiness, mortality, cohesion, honesty, modesty, uniformity and integrity of the soldiers,” says the memorandum of February 26. “This guideline is incompatible with the medical, surgical and psychological restrictions for people with gender dysphoria or people in whom a gender dysphoria has been diagnosed or have the corresponding symptoms.”
According to the Ministry of Defense, around 1.3 million people are in active service in the military. According to activists for transgender rights, there are up to 15,000 transgender soldiers. According to official information, there are a few thousand.
