The end of the first phase of the laboriously negotiated ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is imminent. Shortly before the expiry, “intensive” conversations are held in Cairo.
Representatives from Israel, Qatar and the United States have had further talks about the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, according to state information from Egypt in the capital Cairo. There were intensive negotiations on the next steps in the ceasefire, said Egypt’s state information service.
The humanitarian aid for the needy population was also an issue in the sealed coastal strip. The intermediaries have therefore discussed opportunities to improve the import of humanitarian aid.
The first phase of the ceasefire that has been in effect since January 19 ends on the weekend. The talks about the second phase should have started at the beginning of February. So far, however, both sides have not seriously negotiated.
Together with Qatar and the USA, Egypt conveys in the conflict. Israel and Hamas do not talk to each other directly.
