The FDP failed in the Bundestag election. Wolfgang Kubicki dares to lead the party out of the crisis – and is open to working with his presidium colleague.
FDP politician Wolfgang Kubicki wants to rebuild his party after the debacle in the Bundestag election together with colleague Marie-Egnes Strack-Zimmermann-but not in a double tip. “We are in a variety of conversations and I can certainly say: Both Marie-Eges Strack-Zimmermann and me, we will both belong to the Presidium, in whatever function,” said Kubicki of the German Press Agency on the sidelines of an FDP election campaign event in Hamburg.
You both have already communicated that they would be available for this. “This is also a good thing so that the party has an orientation,” said Kubicki, a leadership duo at the head of the FDP’s politicians from Schleswig-Holstein. This is also not intended by the statutes.
Kubicki: Will also give new faces
It is important that new staff are now also coming. “Not everything is replaced, but there will be a lot of new faces, a lot of new creative personalities,” promised Kubicki. Talks are already underway. He did not name the name.
According to Kubicki, a “different form of communication” is also necessary to bring the party back on their feet. “Obviously, our speech did not get caught by the voters,” admitted the 72-year-old. The FDP clearly missed the move into the Bundestag on Sunday. Party chief Christian Lindner immediately announced his withdrawal from politics.
