Ukraine after scandal in the White House before an uncertain future

In the White House, there are incredible scenes when visiting Wolodymyr Selenskyj, US President Trump rages in public in public. The relationships between the two countries are on the ground.

After an unprecedented scandal at the meeting of US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Wolodymyr Selksyj, the search for a peace solution for the country attacked by Russia has become even more difficult. Among other things, Trump accused his Ukrainian guest not to show enough gratitude for American war aid.

The President of the United States, the largest and most important supporters of the Ukrainians, are in defense against the attack against Russia, was threatened with dropping Ukraine. Selenskyj is not interested in peace as long as the United States provided military help, Trump claimed in a post on his online platform Truth Social. However, Trump wants peace. Selenskyj could come back if he was ready to peace.

Selenskyj himself expressed gratitude despite the public dusting after the meeting. “Thank you America, thanks for the support, thank you for this visit, thank you potus, congress and the American people,” said Selenskyj on the platform X. Potus is the abbreviation for President of the United States. “Ukraine needs a fair and permanent peace, and that’s exactly what we are working on,” he said.

Expressions of support from many countries for Selenskyj

Selenskyj received support from home and from many countries in Europe after the historical exchange of blows in the White House. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andrij Sybiha, who had accompanied his president, wrote on platform X, Selenskyj “had the courage and strength to stand up for what is right”.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) wrote on X: “Nobody wants peace more than the citizens of Ukraine!”, Scholz wrote on platform X in German and English. “I think it was right that we all helped Ukraine three years ago and sanctioned Russia and will continue to do so,” said Macron in front of media representatives.

Trump had sharply caught Selenskyj in the White House because of the Russian attack war in Ukraine and asked him to strive for peace. Then there was a scandal, Selenskyj left the white house prematurely without signing a planned agreement on US access to Ukrainian raw materials.

Raw material deal not signed as planned

The signing of a raw material deal between the USA and Ukraine did not come about. The agreement, among other things, about US access to rare earths in Ukraine, was seen by Trump as an important prerequisite for peace in Ukraine. Trump also sees access to the raw materials in return for previous US military aids. According to congress documents, the United States has spent $ 183 billion for Ukraine aid, Trump speaks of $ 350 billion.

The meeting between Trump and his Ukrainian colleague was eagerly awaited. The Republican had already covered Selenskyj with sometimes hair -raising insults and called him the dictator – but he had mitigated his sound immediately before visiting the Ukrainian.

Escalation after 40 minutes

Selenskyj arrived in the White House in the morning (local time). Trump greeted him with a handshake and said to the Ukrainian that he had dressed up. As usual, Selenskyj was dressed in a sweater. Then the two went to the Oval Office, where they asked themselves the press. The conversation was in a reasonable atmosphere for around 40 minutes.

Trump made it clear that Ukraine in peace negotiations with Russia had to compromise and that peacekeeping was secondary for him. “I’m not worried about security. I am worried about concluding the deal,” says Trump with a view of a peace agreement.

Selenskyj, on the other hand, insisted on guarantees to secure a possible peace. He emphasized that the European allies were dependent on the backing of the United States and, in retrospect, made it clear from 2014 that any efforts for a peaceful solution in which no security guarantees were granted have failed.

Then the atmosphere continued to heat up – after all, the mood overturned. “They jeopardize the lives of millions of people. They risk a third World War,” said Trump, among other things, loudly to the Ukrainian. He accused him of ungrateful. “Your country is in great difficulties. I know that you will not win. You won’t win this here. You have a damn good chance of getting out of it.”

Selenskyj was sitting next to Trump with crossed arms, trying to defend himself – but was repeatedly interrupted. He complained that after the Russian annexation of the Crimea peninsula in 2014, no one effectively stopped Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin.

Vance also agrees in Schlagtirade

US Vice President JD Vance also agreed in Trump’s Tirade. “Mr. President, President, with all respect. I find it disrespectful of you to come to the Oval Office and try to negotiate in front of the American media,” Vance realized. “Especially now that they walk around and forced conscripts to the front because they have personnel problems, you should thank President (Trump) to try to improve the situation.”

Trump finally sent the press out of the Oval Office and said: “I think we saw enough.” It is unclear how things went behind the scenes. It is clear that Trump published his angry contribution to Truth Social a shortly. The broadcaster Fox News reported that the Republican had thrown out the Ukrainian. This did not leave the white house immediately – it stayed there for about an hour. It is open what happened during this time. Finally, Selenskyj got into a vehicle parked in front of the west wing and drove away in it.

USA biggest supporter

The United States is the most important supporter and arms supplier of Ukraine. Trump’s predecessor Joe Biden had emphasized new financial and military aids for the attacked country and at the same time advanced far-reaching sanctions against Russia. In its past few months, the bidet government has been working to send extensive military aid to Kiev in order to exploit the funds already approved by the congress.
