After the scandal with Donald Trump in the White House, the allies of Ukraine in London came together for a crisis meeting. Now there is a result.
After the consultations on the situation of Ukraine in London, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer propose a one -month ceasefire for Ukraine. The ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine should apply “in the air, on the seas and in the energy infrastructure”, Macron told the newspaper “Le Figaro” on Sunday.
Strander had previously announced after a European crisis summit in London, Great Britain, France and a number of other countries wanted to work with Ukraine on a ceasefire plan.
The advantage of such a ceasefire is that “you can measure it” because the front is extremely long-“the equivalent of the Paris Budapest route,” said the French President.
USA demands territorial concessions from Ukraine
In view of the US government’s turn to Russia, Strander had previously said in London that Europe had to take the initiative and develop a “new plan for a fair and permanent peace” in Ukraine. The ceasefire plan should then be presented to the USA.
According to Macron, Europeans should increase their defense spending to between three and 3.5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). US President Donald Trump demands NATO member states to increase the quota for defense expenditure from currently two to five percent of GDP.
Meanwhile, Trump’s security advisor demanded that Ukraine have to make territorial concessions for peace with Russia. “This war must be ended, and territorial concessions are required,” said Mike Waltz, the national security advisor of US President Donald Trump, Mike Waltz. This in turn will require Russian concessions among the security guarantees for Ukraine.
These guarantees would have to be done by the European allies, Waltz said. The type of American support must be negotiated. At the same time, he again confirmed that the US government will not see Ukraine as a member of NATO in the future.
Selenskyj would continue to sign raw material agreements with the USA
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian army for three years after the Russian attack.
President Wolodymyr Selenskyj assumes that he can save his relationship with US President Donald Trump after the scandal in the White House. However, the talks would have to be continued in a different format, says Selenskyj to reporters. He does not believe that the United States would hire its help for Ukraine because this will help the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Selenskyj is still ready to sign the mineral agreement with the USA. He thinks the United States is also ready for this.
Great Britain and France had already signaled their willingness to provide soldiers for a peace force. When asked what contribution Germany will make, Chancellor Olaf Scholz evaded after the consultations. Ukraine must become so militarily so that it is not being attacked again, said the SPD politician. “That will be of central importance for the future.”
Ursula von der Leyen: “Must up Europe urgently”
Strander warned urgently, Europe was “on a crossroads” of history. It was time to act, take responsibility and show leadership. At the same time, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuing to have the backing of the United States. Selenskyj was warmly welcomed by Strandmer in London. The Ukrainian also met British King Charles III.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned a strengthening of military capacities in the EU. “We urgently need to upgrade Europe,” said von der Leyen. Therefore, she wanted to present a comprehensive plan for the recovery of Europe at a special summit in Brussels at a special summit on Thursday in Brussels.
When asked about her message to the USA, from Leyen answered: “We are ready to defend democracy and the principle of the rule of law that you cannot march in and harass your neighbors or change borders by force.” It is in the common interest to prevent future wars from making it clear that these rules count and the democracies would stand up for it together.
Scholz called not to accept Russia’s perspective. “Russia was always about establishing a government in Ukraine that dances to Russian pipe, that cannot be accepted,” said Scholz. Ukraine is a European country that has decided to want to go to the European Union and is a democratic and sovereign nation. “It has to stay that way,” said Scholz.
Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who has good contacts to the Trump camp, warned to cohesion after the meeting. “We have to be brave in this phase so as not to split the West. Because that would be fatal for everyone.”
The British take the lead with peace plans for Ukraine
The top meeting in the Lancaster House was initially only planned as one of several for the Ukraine war. But the scandal in Washington on Friday became particularly explosive. Trump and his vice JD Vance had sharply passed Selenskyj in front of the world public and covered with severe allegations. The talks were canceled, Selenskyj left the white house prematurely.
“Nobody wants to see that,” said Strandmer about the pictures from the USA. That is why he took the listener in his hand and spoke to the participants. “My drive was to bridge this, so to speak, and to bring us back on the central focus,” said Straßer.
The premier wants to get concrete security guarantees for Ukraine. A possible ceasefire agreement should not be a paper tiger, but must be able to be able to guarantee militarily if necessary. “We will continue to develop a coalition of the willing to defend an agreement in Ukraine and guarantee peace,” said Starmer. “Not every nation will feel able to contribute to it, but that must not mean that we lean back.”
So far, Trump had not been promised for security guarantees despite all the charm offensive strands and French President Emmanuel Macron during visits to Washington. Instead, Trump said several times that a planned raw material deal with Ukraine would mean that the United States would be on site in Ukraine, but not military. That is enough in the security guarantee. The deal did not come about through the scandal.
From a disturbing joke to a big bang

“We agree with the President that there is an urgent need for permanent peace. Now we have to act together,” said Starmer. Trump no longer spoke to the Ukraine question at the weekend, after the exchange of blows with Selenskyj, he flew to Florida on Friday.
Great Britain grants Ukraine credit over 2.74 billion euros
Ukraine has been defending itself for three years with western support against a war of aggression ordered by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Strander, who had spoken to Trump and Selenskyj shortly after the incident, prepared the Ukrainian president on Saturday, on the other hand, a warm welcome at his office in Downing Street. A small diplomatic coup also achieved Selenskyj with an invitation to the audience with King Charles III. Before the conference begins.
Just in time for the meeting, a contract was signed for a British loan in favor of Ukraine in the amount of the equivalent of 2.74 billion euros. The money is to help with the defense against the attack against Russia, flow into the Ukrainian weapons production and be repaid with income from frozen Russian fortune, as Selenskyj explained. “This is true justice – the one who started the war must also pay for it,” he wrote to X.
