23 police cars recently burned: A series of arson attacks on infrastructure in the Munich area has been employing the investigators for years. Now report a success.
According to a series of arson attacks on radio masts, train systems and other infrastructure facilities in and around Munich, two suspects are in custody. They had been arrested at a raid at the end of February, as the police and Attorney General announced Munich.
It is also checked whether the two are responsible for the millions of damage, which was created at the fire on the fire department of the Munich police dog relay at the end of January, as a spokesman for the Attorney General said. 23 police cars had risen in flames.
The initial suspicion of participation in some deeds of the alleged series exists against the suspects, for whom the Attorney General did not want to provide any further information on request. With some attacks, an extremist motive could be based. That is why the Bavarian Central Office is investigating the investigation to combat extremism and terrorism at the Munich General Prosecutor’s Office.
Searches in Bavaria and Austria
In the course of these investigations, the police had searched three objects in Munich at the end of February, three in the neighboring counties in Munich, Ebersberg and Fürstenfeldbruck and two in Austria. Among other things, 140 emergency services confiscated cell phones, computers and other storage media. Other suspects were first released.
In recent years there had been suspicious fires in and around Munich, in which the investigators did not exclude arson and a political background.
Interior Minister spoke of “terrorist basic features”
After the fire of 23 police vehicles on the premises of the service dog squadron at the end of January, Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) spoke of “terrorist basic features”.
