This is Annalena Baerbock’s ex-husband Daniel Holefleisch

Annalena Baerbock and Daniel Holefreisch were considered a modern couple: she made a career, he took care of the children. With his job, Holef meat also attracted criticism.

The Greens are faced with a profound personnel upheaval: According to Robert Habeck, Annalena Baerbock has also announced not to take on a leadership role in the parliamentary group. She had “decided for personal reasons to take a step out of the glaring spotlights,” said the still Foreign Minister.

“After years on high speed” she first wanted to think about “what this moment means for my family and me”. Baerbock held the party chairmanship together with Habeck in 2010 to 2022, was the first Chancellor candidate for the Greens in the Bundestag election in 2021 and became Foreign Minister in the traffic light coalition. She also paid a “private price” for this political career, the 44-year-old said now.

Daniel Holefleisch also worked for the Greens

She was accompanied by Daniel Holefleisch for many years. In 2007 the politician and the communication consultant married – at that time Baerbock was not yet in the Bundestag. At the end of 2024 the couple announced the separation. Baerbock and HOLEFLeisch have two daughters aged nine and 13, which they want to take care of together after the separation.

Holeflische also moves professionally in the political environment. The communication consultant worked for many years at the Green Party Center and maintained the connections between the federal board and the economy. Then he switched to Deutsche Post as a lobbyist.

Holefleisch gave up his job to support Baerbock

For his wife, however, he decided to accept professional cuts. Because Baerbock first took over the candidacy of the Chancellor and then the Federal Foreign Office, Holeflisch gave up his job. On the one hand, to avoid conflicts of interest, on the other hand to take care of the daughters. Her husband was responsible for the educational and homework, said Baerbock in an interview with the “colorful”: “My husband takes over full responsibility and work at home. He has already reduced his hours in the job for the past few years because I often go out of the house early and come back late at night.”

The fact that Holef meat was less than a year later back into professional life caused a stir. Less because of the division of labor in Baerbock/Holeflisch, but much more because of his work. Holeflieisch hired the MSL Germany advisory agency, which is also active for foreign governments. The LobbyControl association considered the change due to its marriage to the Foreign Minister to be “problematic”. In his contract, however, Holefleisch had a passage that he was not allowed to lobby in the Federal Foreign Office, the authority of his wife.

After 17 years of marriage, Baerbock and Holef meat separated. There were no new partners, both said at the time, and emphasized: “The most important thing for us remains to ensure that our two daughters can grow up in peace and in a loving environment.” Today, Daniel Holefleisch still gives a clear statement on his priorities in his self-description on the LinkedIn career portal: “Still Family First.”
