A plan to kidnap the Minister of Health caused a stir nationwide. The group’s ringleaders must now be in custody for several years. But the judgment makes even more clear.
Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) in custody, the Federal Republic in Chaos and a new constitution based on the model of the Empire: This is how Germany should look like the plans of the terrorist group “United Patriot”. The Koblenz Higher Regional Court sentenced four ringleaders to long prison terms after an almost two -year trial.
The four main defendants were found guilty, among other things, to found a terrorist association and the preparation of a highly treacherous company against the federal government. A 46-year-old defendant received the highest punishment at the age of eight. Two other ringleaders, a man of 58 and a woman of 77 years, had six and a half years and seven years and nine months. A 57-year-old from Brandenburg received five years and nine months.
The court took a fifth, 53 -year -old defendant who was the only one to be in custody, with a punishment of two years and ten months. He was only guilty of membership in a terrorist association. It still has to be decided whether he still has to custody it after the pre -trial detention or to be suspended on probation.
Karl Lauterbach should be “arrested”
The aim of the group was a creation that possible fatalities accepted the group. The plan looked like this: With a power failure lasting several weeks, the population should “be thrown back to itself,” said the judge. 16 specific attack goals had already been looked out. An expert found this to be suitable for causing a large -scale power failure.
It was planned to kidnap Lauterbach on a live broadcast and “switch off” the bodyguards. A “war court arrest warrant” should also be read to him. In a constituent session, a new constitution was to be introduced based on the model of the Empire of 1871.
Designed calls in between when the judgment was pronounced
The four ringleaders reacted to the judgments with shaking their heads and empty views. The 77-year-old woman kept the presiding judge off to the announcement, spoke of constructed lies. Your microphone has been muted several times.
That was not a novelty in the process. On the 106 days of negotiations, the former religious teacher from Mainz had repeatedly interrupted others. In her admissions, she had repeatedly expressed certain ideas of anti-Semitic and Reich Citizens’ thinking. So -called Reichsbürger do not recognize the Federal Republic and its democratic structures.
The presiding judge emphasized that the mammoth procedure was not an everyday day at the beginning of the announcement of the judgments. The court was showered with instructions, pseudo -scientific humbug and anti -Semitic statements, she said.
Lauterbach and Faeser react to judgments
According to the court, the former teacher was responsible for the ideological superstructure of the project. The 46 -year -old defendant with the highest punishment had taken the role of a “center”. He was “the threads gathered,” said the judge. The Brandenburger, who would like to be called Sven Birkmann with a full name, benefited the court that he therefore preferred not to damage any people.
Lauterbach thanked the police and judiciary for the investigation and the punishment of the planned crime. The state had shown that it could defend himself against violent conspiracy theorists, he wrote on X.
Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) said that the investigation against this group had revealed an abyss. It also applies: the security authorities are serious and acted accordingly and acted accordingly. “We protect our democracy.”
Precise sees defensible democracy strengthened
Against the judgment can be filed within a week of revision. While the defense of the 58-year-old declared that he had to do without an appeal, the 46-year-old, which was occupied by the highest punishment, was already appealed.
The other defenders want to think about it. Chief Prosecutor Wolfgang Barrot from the Federal Prosecutor said that the court’s decision was important beyond the individual cases. The court strengthened the defensive democracy.
