Enola Gay: Pentagon repays famous bombers from the archive

Enola Gay
Pentagon repays famous bombers from the archive – probably because of his name

The bomber “Enola Gay” changed world history. Now the Pentagon removes it from its archive – probably out of over -enluminess after an instruction from Donald Trump.

It is perhaps the most famous aircraft of the US air weapon-and one that changed world history forever: the B-29 bomber “Enola Gay” was the one who in August 1945 the atomic bombs to the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was the first use of atomic bombs ever, which ended the Second World War.

Of course, the “Enola Gay” also had its place in the archives of the Pentagon. At least until now. According to a report by the AP news agency, there are photos of the aircraft on a prank list of the US Department of Defense. Like 26,000 other pictures, they should be removed from the photo archive. Behind it is apparently an arrangement by US President Donald Trump-and a misunderstanding.

“Enola Gay” is on the strike list

After taking office, Trump had given all the authorities to end their diversity programs. The President does not want to support diversity, equality and integration at least. The Pentagon implements this directive by repaying numerous pictures from its archives that indicate women, black or homosexuals.

The “Enola Gay” has probably landed on the strike list because its name contains the word “gay”, ie “gay”. In this context, however, the term has nothing to do with homosexuality. The plane was named after the pilot’s mother, Colonel Paul W. Tibbet Jr. Their name, in turn, goes back to a novel figure.

In addition, according to the AP report, the Pentagon also strokes war heroes and pioneers of the US Army from his archives when these minorities belong. Photos of black soldiers are on the prank list as well as Jeannie Leavitt, the country’s first fight pilot. Some pictures have already been removed, others are still available, reports the news agency.

Defense Minister wants to fundamentally change Pentagon

A coarse grid has apparently been used in other cases that hardly seems to be in the sense of the instructions. This is to delete the image of a soldier who also bears the name Gay. Pictures of fish probably landed on the index because the files contained information about the gender of the animals.

In his decree, Trump had stated that the diversity programs would undermine the leadership as well as the cohesion of military associations and thus the “deadliness” and “willingness to fight” of the troop. The new US defense minister Pete Hegseth is also a decisive opponent of diversity and equality measures. Hegseth had announced before taking office to fundamentally change his authority.
