Bundestag election: BSW does not come to the Bundestag despite correction

Final result
Despite the correction of votes, BSW does not make it into the Bundestag

The final result of the Bundestag election deviates only marginally from the preliminary result of the election night. There are bad news for the Sahra Wagenknecht BSW.

The BSW also misses the parliament after the final result of the Bundestag election. The party of Sahra Wagenknecht received another 4277 valid second votes compared to the provisional result from the election night, as the Federal Election Committee found at its meeting in Berlin. At 4.98 percent, however, she still remained just below the five percent hurdle.

Nothing changed in the overall result and the distribution of seats in the 21st German Bundestag. The CDU/CSU came to 28.5 percent, the AfD to 20.8 and the SPD to 16.4 percent. The Greens scored 11.6 and the left 8.8 percent. The FDP flew from the Bundestag with 4.3 percent. In seats this means: CDU/CSU 208, AfD 152, SPD 120, Greens 85, Linke 64 and SSW 1.

Easy voice corrections at BSW and several parties

Not only at the BSW there were minimal changes in the absolute number of the valid second votes. For example, 1674 votes were added to the CDU, with the SPD 840 and the AfD 1632. In contrast, the FDP 121 votes were deducted. These changes are above all the consequences of corrections of the preliminary second tint results in Lower Saxony (plus 3271), Bavaria (plus 932) and Baden-Württemberg (plus 912), as Federal Election Director Ruth Brand said.

Brand also reported smaller defects in the choice. In the constituency of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate by the printing company, ballot papers were also delivered for Berlin-Pankow. 15 citizens would also have given up their vote. These ballot papers were declared invalid.

Three cases of double voting

In several federal states, election documents were accidentally sent twice. Measures were taken there immediately to exclude a double voice.

Nevertheless, three cases of double voting were registered, for example in the Thuringian constituency Eichsfeld-Nordhausen-Kyffhäuserkreis. There, one person distracted the election board in the polling station, so that another could take a second ballot and finally handed over two ballots. Voters also came twice in Hamburg-Wandsbek and in the Saxon constituency Erzgebirge district and had managed to choose twice. In the three cases, criminal complaint was filed, said Brand.
