South Korea’s military assumes that North Korea has sent 3,000 additional soldiers to Russia. Pyongyang Moscow also supports Ukraine with arms deliveries.
According to the South Korean military leadership, North Korea has sent at least 3,000 additional soldiers to support Russia in the Ukraine War. “It seems that at least 3,000 other soldiers were sent in January and February,” the official news agency Yonhap quoted the South Korean General Staff.
Previously, North Korea had already sent around 11,000 North Korean soldiers to the Russian region around Kursk last autumn. The South Korean secret service for the first time in February suspected a second wave of mobilization North Korean troops to Russia. At that time, however, it was said that the exact scope of posting was still being determined.
A possible reason for North Korea’s additional troop shipment could be to compensate for high losses according to experts. The South Korean General Staff, for example, assumes that the North Korean army has already suffered 4,000 losses in the Ukraine War. However, it is unclear whether the number also includes wounded soldiers in addition to the dead.
In addition to the shipment of troops, North Korea continues to deliver ammunition and weapons to Russia, including short -range missiles, armored shadows and rocket launchers, according to the South Korean General Stab.
