A video of the Ukrainian army is said to show one of two Chinese prisoners. President Selenskyj had stated on Tuesday that both had fought for Russia.
China has now rejected the statements by Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, according to which Chinese soldiers are fighting for Russia in Ukraine. “Ukraine should correctly assess China’s efforts and constructive role in the search for a political solution to the Ukraine crisis,” says a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. China is currently checking the situation in Ukraine. However, the People’s Republic has always asked its citizens to avoid areas of armed conflicts and in particular the participation in military activities. The government in Beijing has diplomatically tried for peace.
Selenskyj had said on Tuesday that Ukrainian armed forces had captured two Chinese who had fought for Russia in eastern Ukraine. China is a close ally of Russia and his President Vladimir Putin. Ukraine has indications that many other Chinese fought for Russia, said Selenskyj. “Russia’s direct or indirect inclusion of China and other countries in this war in Europe is a clear signal that Putin has anything but intention to end the war.
