Are Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez the political future of the Democrats? Joint appearances heat speculation. What else is important.
Good morning dear readers,
The resistance to the US government of Donald Trump is led by an old, white man. Of one who is currently enthusiastic about thousands of thousands. Also because he is one of the few prominent heads that publicly challenge the president.
Bernie Sanders: 83 years old, political veteran, two -time applicant for the presidential candidacy. The independent senator from Vermont speaks that Political leftists, who has been tumbled without leadership since Trump’s taking office.
Sanders appears on his nationwide “fight against the oligarchy” tour together with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). At a rally in Los Angeles, the two attracted 36,000 people on Saturday – record for Sanders. The number is based on information from Sander’s team, but it is not his first event of this size.
In Los Angeles If the two attack Trump and his consultant Elon Musk with hard but well -known tones: “We live in a time when a handful of billionaires control the economy and the political life of our country”. “Oligarchy or democracy – we cannot have both”. The audience cheers – and wish more of it: “I am very disappointed with the reaction of the Democrats. I want to see more deeds of them, more outrage,” says a visitor to the AFP news agency.
Are AOC and Bernie Sanders The political future of the Democrats? While Sanders don’t want to fight for the presidency, some of the participants want Ocasio-Cortez as a presidential candidate. The “New York Times” has heard and stated on the democratic basis: “It is the next – if she wants it.”
The tour of Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez is large, but not a mass movement. But it can be a beginning, a glimmer of hope for the liberals. They don’t have anything else at the moment.
Have a good start to the week!

The summary of my colleague Florian Schillat Read here.
The Zoff comes to the wrong time – because the SPD suddenly grows against the grand coalition. The star-Politics boss Veit Medick and Jan Rosenkranz talk about the nervousness behind the scenes in the “5-minute talk”.
