On a school trip to the former Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, several students showed the right-wing extremist “White-Power greeting”. Photos of this are circulating on social media.
During a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp memorial, ninth graders from Görlitz showed a right-wing extremist gesture. The four posed on an educational trip on March 13 in front of the former German extermination camp with the so-called White power greeting and were photographed, as a spokesman for the Saxon State Office for School and Education confirmed. First “Tag24” and “Bild” had reported.
A photo of the incident is currently circulating on social media. In the morning, an advertisement was made to the police, as a spokesman said. She started the investigation.
In the “White Power” hand gesture, thumb and index finger are brought together to a circle on the fingertips, the remaining three fingers protrude up and should shape a “W”. The gesture is used in the right scene and – unlike the Hitler salute – is not prohibited.
