Russian President Vladimir Putin and his administration do not interfere in the actions of the investigation, including in the case of the rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka) Sergei Zuev. This was announced on Thursday, February 10, at a briefing by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“The president can express his opinion, but cannot give instructions to investigators. These are the decisions of the investigators, these are the decisions of the Federal Penitentiary Service. We cannot interfere. This is entirely the prerogative of those involved in the investigation,” Peskov said.
The spokesman added that the Kremlin cannot include humanitarian aspects in the course of the case.
Earlier it was reported that the arrested rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka) Sergei Zuev will be transferred from the Matrosskaya Tishina detention center hospital to a civilian clinic with the necessary specialists.
The day before, the Moscow City Court rejected the complaint of Zuev’s defense and left him in a pre-trial detention center.
On October 19, Rector Shaninka was charged with fraud on an especially large scale. In addition to Zuev, Marina Rakova, former Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation and ex-Vice President of Sberbank, is also involved in this case.
