Donald Trump’s government is considering numerous measures to move American women to give birth. An idea: the baby bonus-proposed by Elon Musk.
The US government under Donald Trump wants to counteract the falling birth rate in the United States and has worked out a new program for this: which, citing government circles, from a bonus of $ 5,000 per child.
The idea of paying a bonus to mothers to make women tasty goes back to Elon Musk. The tech billionaire describes himself as a “pronatalist”. He does not believe in a global overpopulation, but that the number of people worldwide decreases and thereby arise problems such as aging and economic decline.
Donald Trump: “I am the fertility president”
Musk is also of the opinion that intelligent people in particular should have more children. He should probably count himself – and has already put a good dozen children into the world. Trump himself also commented on several times pronatalistic. He said in March that he was the “fertility president”.
However, the Trump government’s ideas are not just about increasing the birth rate. The “Maha” movement (“Make America Healthy Again”-“makes America healthy”) is about stopping the decline in the “traditional American family”. Trump and his followers stand up for the conservative family picture of married father and mother with children – and also against abortions.
A terribly complicated family
Maye Musk
Maye Musk is the mother of Elon Musk and his siblings. She was born in Canada in 1948. In 1952, their parents Johsua and Wyn Haldeman emigrated to South Africa with them. There she started her model career and met the engineer Errol Musk. Elon is the oldest of her three children. After the divorce, she and her children returned to Canada, where Maye continued to work as a model

Further
In addition to Trump and Musk, US Vice President Vance also supports the values of pronatalism. At an anti-abdominal demonstration in January, he said in a speech: “I want more babies in the United States-raised by beautiful men and women”.
State-funded menstrual tracking
In addition to the baby bonus, further proposals are under discussion according to the report by the “New York Times”: For example, a share of 30 percent of the Fulbright scholarships should be reserved for applicants who are married or have children. The Fulbright program is one of the most prestigious scholarship programs in the world and promotes academic exchange between the USA and other countries.
In addition, the government is examining the promotion of reconnaissance programs that are intended to support women to better understand their menstrual cycle – and to determine the time of their ovulation, for targeted family planning.
Another proposal is the “National Medal of Motherhood”, an award for mothers with at least six children.
No specific plan has yet been officially adopted to implement these ideas in the near future. Most of the measures would first have to be approved by the US Congress. However, the ongoing talks are a certain sign that the Trump government is reorganizing its family policy strategic, say experts.
