Hasted crosses, Hitler greetings, xenophobic slogans: There have never been so many right -wing motivated crimes in German schools. An East German country leads the statistics.
The number of right -wing motivated crimes at German schools rose to a record high last year. This resulted in a query of the star at the state criminal offices of the federal states. According to this, the cases registered with the police have more than doubled in the past ten years – almost even quadrupled in some federal states.
Number of right -wing motivated crimes in schools within a year in parties partially doubled
The growth is also enormous in the previous year comparison. LoudstarThe police recently recorded the most drastic increase in Saxony-Anhalt: In 2024, cases increased by 150 percent compared to the previous year, and 185 cases as a whole. In Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony and Bavaria, the incidents also increased particularly strongly: with 80 or 52 percent and almost 39 percent. Lower Saxony, which currently did not send any final figures for 2024, announced that the cases would probably have doubled compared to 2023.
The most cases mostly show the police data for Brandenburg: 336 cases. From the Hessian Ministry of Culture it was said that social polarization also had an impact on schools. Other federal states such as Thuringia, which were able to transmit numbers up to and including 2023, confirm the trend.
Most registered acts according to the statistics of the state criminal offices: the use of license plates of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations. This means, for example, swastikas incised in school benches or showing the Hitler salute on the school premises.
Right -wing extremist chat messages are also becoming more and more a problem with students
According to the countries, there are also increasing problems with the use of right -wing extremists symbols in class chats. The party hit “L’Amour Toujours” is also very popular at schools, whose chorus has been re -resisted on “Germany, foreigners out” last summer at the latest since an incident that has become known nationwide on Sylt last summer. Singing these lines is not necessarily punishable.
According to the countries, the reported acts may be cases that were not committed by students or during school, in which the school was only the crime scene. There are no uniform nationwide detection criteria for right -wing motivated crimes at schools in Germany. Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, right-wing motivated crimes in schools do not separate in their police statistics for politically motivated crime.
