The indirect negotiations between Israel and the Islamists step on the spot. Hamas lets Hamas forward its position through the Egyptian intermediaries.
According to its own statements, the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip is available for a comprehensive ceasefire agreement with Israel. “We do not want a partial agreement, but a comprehensive regulation that ends the war,” said a Hamas-Officer in front of Palestinian journalists. In the course of such an agreement, the Islamists would release all Israeli hostages in an exchange against Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
A high -ranking delegation from Hamas arrived in Cairo today and had talks with the Egyptian intermediaries. Egypt, Qatar and the USA offer their services as an intermediary in the indirect discussions between Israel and Islamist organization.
In January agreed ceasefire broke after two months
These have been on the spot for weeks. A ceasefire that came into force in January collapsed after two months. Israel had refused to negotiate the end of the war in the course of a next phase of the ceasefire, as it was originally agreed.
The Jewish state is on the point of view that Hamas should be disarmed in the course of a future peace solution. The Islamists categorically reject this. The Gaza War was triggered by Hamas and other extremist groups on Israel on October 7, 2023.
