“Maischberger”: Sahra Wagenknecht wants to rename BSW this year

BSW boss Sahra Wagenknecht wants to continue to run her party-despite the slump in the Bundestag election and despite her defeat in the internal power struggle with the State Association of Thuringia. When asked whether she is thinking of resignation, Wagenknecht said in the ARD program “Maischberger”: “I want this project to survive.” She will “not continue”, but until she had the stable hope of establishing the party.

The alliance Sahra Wagenknecht failed very narrowly because of the five percent hurdle in the Bundestag election in February. Last weekend, Katja Wolf was re -elected in Thuringia against her will. In the TV interview, she commented on the events in Thuringia for the first time, but hardly responded to her defeat.

But she renewed her criticism of government policy in Erfurt and jointly responsible for the weak performance of the BSW in the Bundestag election. “I think we have lost confidence in Thuringia and gambled trust because we did not redeem certain things,” she said.

Surveys showed that BSW voters in particular have not agreed to the Thuringian coalition. The BSW lost voters to the AfD. “When we went down, the AfD went up.” What the federal tip had wanted is still up to date: “We wanted a state board that is no longer an extended arm of the government, but that the government is critical so that we do not make so many mistakes in the government.”

Wagenknecht also admitted his own mistake in building the party. The membership in order not to “attract crazy people” did not work as a concept. “With these very small structures, we actually also promoted career networks, Klüngerei, even what we didn’t want,” said Wagenknecht.
