AfD ban procedure: Juso boss Türmer speaks for this

The assessment is clear, the choice of words drastically: The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution now classifies the entire AfD as secure right -wing extremist, “due to the extremist character of the entire party disregarding human dignity”. This could include the debate about a ban on the AfD again.

Also from an important part of the CDU comes the demand for an immediate prohibition procedure: the executive federal board of the Christian-Democratic Working of Germany (CDA) declares to the star: “The protection of the constitution is now finally realizing what was long certain: the AfD is an anti -constitutional party.” The party wants to destroy democracy and split society.

The assessment of the protection of the constitution now provides “the necessary basis” for a prohibition procedure. “Germany’s CDA therefore speaks for an immediate prohibition procedure of the AfD.” In addition, there should no longer be state financing for the party. A ban is the right way. “This will be a great social effort that we should now dare to prevent worse things.”

The CDU’s wing informed: “As long as the right -wing extremists continue to spread their slogans and lies over social media and are even increased massively by the algorithms, they are becoming increasingly successful.” With better politics alone, it will be “extremely difficult” to stick to it. “Our consensus-oriented democracy has little to counter this split mushrooms in the age of digital disinformation,” explains the executive CDA federal board.

The future black and red government must take measures to protect democracy, Juso boss called Türmer, who described the AfD as a “threat to state and society and for all democratic people”.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig also finds clear words. “As of today, nobody can speak out: the AfD is not a democratic party and not a party like any other,” said the social democrat of the star. Therefore, there should be “no collaboration” with the AfD.

With a view to the debate about an AfD ban on proceedings, Schwesig initially reserved. “It is important for us countries that we can see and check the opinion of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.” This is the prerequisite for being able to assess the chances of success of a prohibition procedure. “The democratic parties should find a consensus on how they continue to deal with the AfD in the Bundestag,” said Schwesig.

A party ban can only be applied for by the Bundestag, the Federal Council or the Federal Government from the Federal Constitutional Court. At the end of January, the Bundestag advised for the first time about an AfD ban, which had been brought in by more than 120 MPs. However, it was not coordinated by this. According to the principle of discontinuity, the application in the Old Bundestag has fallen into disrepair and would now have to be re -introduced.

“The protection of the constitution confirms what we have been able to see in parliament for a long time,” said Carmen Wegge star. The SPD politician was one of the co-initiators of the group application. “As a member of parliament, we are now all the more obliged to work on the fact that the AfD is checked before the Federal Constitutional Court.”

Berlin’s Justice Senator Felor Badenberg (CDU) also welcomes the classification of the entire AfD as secured right -wing extremist. The high level of the party by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution also had an impact on a possible ban on party. Badenberg told that star: “A party ban procedure is not necessarily the result of this classification.” The decision on the introduction is now “the constitutional organs entitled to the application and is a political decision,” said the ex-constitution protector. Badenberg itself once had promoted the AfD classification as a right-wing extremist suspicion in the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and was recently its vice president. The new classification considers Badenberg to be justified: “This assessment brings clarity for everyone involved and is a consequence of the increasing radicalization of the party in recent years.”

The executive Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD) cautiously commented on the possibility of a party ban. “A party ban procedure has very high constitutional hurdles for good reasons,” said the SPD politician. “You shouldn’t rule that out, but continue to handle it very carefully. In any case, there is no automatism.”

The new assessment by the Protection of the Constitution shows that there are legal instruments “that protect our democracy against extremist threats”.
