The new German Foreign Minister visits the Holocaust Memorial Yad Vashem. He is shaken. And warns that the “immeasurable injustice” should never be forgotten.
Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul announces a determined fight against anti -Semitism in Germany given the horrors of the Holocaust. It is permanent responsibility to maintain awareness of this immeasurable injustice committed by Germany, to commemorate the victim, to honor the survivors and to act according to the teachings from the human crime of the Shoah, “said the CDU politician in the Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. He called on “standing up against anti -Semitism together and shaping the future on the basis of the indivisible humanity”.
WadePhul was shaken after he had lit up the eternal flame in the hall of memory and, in memory of the six million Jews murdered by Nazi Germany, laid down a wreath. “With horror and shame, I stand here as Germany’s foreign minister,” said the minister. “This place always shows us Germans: the monstrosity of the Shoah was ordered in German, planned by Germans.”
Political conversations with sensitive topics
Afterwards WadePhul came together with Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar for an exchange of views. A meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was also planned later. In the political conversations, WADEPHUL should also appeal to delicate topics such as the controversial procedure of the Israeli government in the Gaza Strip.
In the afternoon, a meeting with the Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa is planned in Ramallah in the Palestinian areas. The visit of WadePhul stands against the background of the celebrations that are up to this week to accommodate diplomatic relationships between Germany and Israel 60 years ago.
