Other activists of the intercepted Gaza solidarity ship should remain in custody for the time being. According to a media report, eight of them had refused to sign the expulsion documents.
The Swedish activist Greta Thunberg left Israel after she was designated. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs published pictures on the platform X pictures that show Thunberg on board an aircraft. Thunberg is now on the road to Sweden with a stopover in France, the ministry wrote.
According to an Israeli media report, other activists of the intercepted Gaza solidarity ship should initially remain in Israeli detention. The Israeli news portal “Ynet” reported that eight of them would have refused to sign the necessary expulsion documents. Among them is the French EU parliamentary member Rima Hassan.
In addition to Thunberg, three other activists had signed the departure form and were supposed to return to their home countries.
According to the report, the eight remaining activists should remain in custody in a detention center near the international airport Ben Gurion at Tel Aviv until they sign the form or have passed a maximum of 96 hours after their arrest.
Official entry to Israel prohibited
Israel’s Interior Minister of Mosque Arbel had prohibited the official entry into Israel. Israel will not allow his sovereignty to undermine “Madleen” through “provocative actions” like that of the activists on the ship, said Arbel.
The Israeli army had intercept the sailing ship on the way to the Gaza Strip on the early Monday morning – according to the alliance Freedom Flotilla Coalition, around 200 kilometers from the coast of the Gaza Strip in international waters. The crew of the ship was then captured by Israeli soldiers and brought to Israel against their will. The ship was towed by the Israeli military to the Israeli port city of Aschdod. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition pointed out that this Israeli campaign violates international law several times. She therefore speaks of kidnapping. In a statement on Monday, Amnesty International emphasized that “the violent intercept and blocking of the ‘Madleen'” “Israel” again disregarded its legal obligations towards the civilian population in the occupied Gaza Strip “. The crew were “unarmed activists and human rights defenders who were in humanitarian mission,” said the human rights organization, which called for their “immediate and unconditional release”.
