Morla summoned for alleged fraud against Maradona

According to the resolution of Judge Karina Zucconi, in charge of the National Criminal Court 43, Morla must appear next July 5 accused of having “suppressed or destroyed a document to cause damage”while his brother-in-law Christian Maximiliano Pomargo, the notary public Sandra Verónica Iampolsky, the lawyer Laura Gabriela Marcovecchio and Christian Walter Ferreyra were also summoned for investigation.

According to the magistrate’s resolution, to which Télam had access, Marcovecchio and Ferreyra were summoned on June 28 at 10:00 and 11:30, respectively, while Ferreyra and Pomargo two days later at the same times. Finally, the lawyer Morla will have to appear before Judge Zucconi on Tuesday, July 5 at 10.

In all cases, the inquiries may be face-to-face or virtually through the Zoom platform.

The case began in March of last year, when Dalma and Gianinna filed a criminal complaint against the lawyer Morla for the crime of fraud due to fraudulent administration, accusing him of appropriating his father’s brand based on “betrayal, disloyalty, infidelity and the abuse of power”, according to the presentation to which Télam had access at the time.

The daughters of the soccer star assured that the brands “were the exclusive property and ownership” of their father and “therefore, of their legitimate heirs, and that after Morla’s management they disappeared or vanished from their heritage.”

“It is very likely that Morla, if she deigns to be held accountable for these events, will use documents obtained from our father in a fraudulent manner”assured Dalma and Gianinna, or abusing “some transitory disability that would have prevented him from understanding the meaning or significance of what made him sign.”

The daughters of El Diez maintain a harsh confrontation with Morla, not only in this case, but also in the one processed by the Justice of San Isidro for the death of Maradona and in a third file in the Justice of La Plata for the alleged appropriation of his estate.

Maradona, the greatest figure in the history of world football, died at the age of 60 on November 25, 2020 at noon, in a house in the private neighborhood of San Andrés, in Tigre, where he was undergoing home internment that is under criminal investigation in the justice of San Isidro.

The autopsy determined that he died as a result of “acute pulmonary edema secondary to exacerbated chronic heart failure” and discovered “dilated cardiomyopathy” in his heart.

On April 13, the prosecutors who investigated the death of the former captain of the Argentine team, Patricio Ferrari, Cosme Iribarren and Laura Capra, requested that eight accused health professionals, including neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, go to trial as alleged responsible for a “simple homicide with possible intent”, a crime that provides for 8 to 25 years in prison.
