RB Leipzig is said to be interested in top talent Ilaix Moriba. The 18-year-old recently fell out of favor at FC Barcelona.
Bundesliga club RB Leipzig are said to be interested in top talent Ilaix Moriba from FC Barcelona. As ESPN reported, Barca are demanding a transfer fee of between € 15m and € 20m for the 18-year-old midfielder.
Most recently there had been an open dispute between Moriba and the Catalans’ management team. Moriba’s contract expires in 2022, Barca are determined to extend it, but allegedly have to deal with exorbitant demands from the players’ side.
Laporta sharply criticizes Moriba
Accordingly, Moriba demands a doubling of his salary, although he should already earn much more than the other players in his age group in the club. President Joan Laporta reacted with incomprehension and made a clear message to Moriba, his father and the consulting agency ROGON. “If he does not want to extend, he has other options,” he clarified: “If you want to leave, you can do so – under certain conditions, of course.”
Most recently, Moriba was banned from the professional team in Barcelona and transferred back to the B team. According to Laporta, the club should not only set an example because of the troubled finances, but also with a view to the other talents from La Masia. “He still has one year of contract and does not want to accept the club’s terms. We do not accept that, we have to send a message to the youth team,” said Laporta,
Moriba made his debut in the professional team at the beginning of the year and has since played 18 competitive games for Blaugrana.
