Basketball: NBA: Lakers win at Schröder comeback

The forced break for national basketball player Dennis Schröder is over. His second debut for the Los Angeles Lakers is successful.

A month after his thumb surgery, national basketball player Dennis Schröder won his season debut for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The NBA record champion won against the Detroit Pistons without his ailing superstar LeBron James 128:121. Both teams had started the season poorly and had only three wins each before the game. Schröder scored two points and two assists on his comeback.

“I only took five throws, only hit one, that comes with the rhythm. I haven’t played real basketball for eight or nine weeks now. I need a few games now – but we won, and if we win , your own performance no longer counts,” said the 29-year-old of the German Press Agency. His bandaged thumb handicapped him only slightly. “It was good to be back on the field.”

The national team captain is playing for the Lakers for the second time in his career. The best pitcher of the game was Anthony Davis with 38 points.

Franz Wagner and Orlando also successful

Franz Wagner previously won his fifth win of the season with the Orlando Magic. In the 108:107 against the Chicago Bulls, the Magic gave up a 19-point lead in the last few seconds and fell behind, but thanks to Jalen Suggs they came back again. Wagner and Suggs each got 20 points, the best pitcher of the game was DeMar DeRozan with 41 points for the Bulls.

Defeat for Hartenstein and the Knicks

Isaiah Hartenstein lost with the New York Knicks to defending champions Golden State Warriors. The 111:101 was only the seventh win of the season in nine defeats for the Warriors, in which Stephen Curry was the best thrower with 24 points. Hartenstein had eight points and started again as a center for the Knicks, who now have eight wins and eight losses.

Superstar Doncic with triple double

Again with Luka Doncic but still without the injured Maxi Kleber, the Dallas Mavericks clinched a home win over the Denver Nuggets. At 127:99, Doncic had a triple double from 33 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Kleber missed the third game in a row because of a back injury.

At the top of the Eastern Conference, league leaders Boston Celtics extended their lead with a ninth straight win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Celtics went 117-109 against the New Orleans Pelicans, hitting 20 three-pointers. The Bucks, meanwhile, lost 102-110 to the Philadelphia 76ers.
