The rainy stage on Friday was 1,000 km including connecting routes. The pilots had been on the road for more than 13 hours at low temperatures. The KTM driver Walkner, who was handicapped by a fall injury, is in eleventh place.
In the car classification, the superior overall leader Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota) from Qatar took no risks and finished 14th in the stage. and leads the standings by around an hour over his South African team-mate Henk Lategan. The day’s win went to local hero Yazeed Al-Rajhi.
