The 2-2 draw (after a 0-2 deficit) in the test on Saturday afternoon against St. Pölten was completely forgotten by all players, coaches and fans of SV Guntamatic Ried. The reason for this was an unfortunate collision between Ried goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger and St. Pölten’s Kevin Monzialo just before half-time, OÖN reported. Then a short, loud scream from the 30-year-old Rieder goalkeeper, who was recently nominated for the national team due to his strong performance.

Sahin-Radlinger was carried off the pitch and later he went to the hospital, where an MRI scan (magnetic resonance imaging) was carried out in the evening. Late on Saturday evening, Ried’s sports director Thomas Reicheltshammer gave the first slight all-clear in an OÖN interview. “It’s not a cruciate ligament tear”, said Reifeltshammer. A more precise diagnosis should be available by Monday at the latest. According to Reifeltshammer, it could be an injury to the inner ligament or meniscus. However, there is hope again that the goalkeeper will be available to the Rieders again in the course of the spring.

The Rieder goalkeeper is definitely not an issue for the start of the season on Saturday, February 4th, with the quarter-finals of the cup against the Wiener Sportclub. If Rieder are not active on the transfer market, 22-year-old Jonas Wendlinger will be in goal. Wendlinger was also between the posts in the round of 16 and quarterfinals.

In addition to Sahin-Radlinger, there is also bad news from captain Marcel Ziegl. The defensive midfielder is struggling with knee problems again and more detailed investigations are to be carried out. His use in the first games of the spring season is more than questionable.

Rumors about Bajic: “nothing to it”

Rumors about Ante Bajic, who switched to Rapid in the summer, were circulating around the two friendlies of Rieder on Saturday. Content: There is said to be a loan deal with his new club Rapid. When asked by OÖN, Reifeltshammer and SVR sports director Wolfgang Fiala said: “There’s nothing wrong with that, Bajic will certainly not wear a Ried jersey in the spring.”
