Austria’s table tennis women’s series champion Linz AG Froschberg has qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League. After the 3:2 in France, the team led by European champion Sofia Polcanova also won the home game against Clairefontaine. The team kept the upper hand in the Lissfeld sports park with 3:1 and made it up the ladder with an overall score of 6:3. Metz, the club that beat Europe’s number one, Berlin eastside, 3-1 at home after a 2-3 away defeat, is now waiting in the last four.
The people of Linz take note of this and are happy about their own hard-fought success. Polcanova got revenge against Jieni Shao, whom she lost 3-2 in Clairefontaine. This time she turned the tables and won the deciding set 6-3. Previously, Polcanova had dispatched Marie Migot 3-0. Suthasini Sawettabut used her good form again this time and surprisingly beat Shao 3:0.
