World Championship silver winner Julian Schmid didn’t have time for a big party because of the full program. Barely 24 hours after his first precious metal at a Nordic World Ski Championships, the man from Oberstdorf has his next competition on the agenda – and it’s a very special one.

The mixed with two women and two men will be held in Planica, Slovenia for the first time at a World Cup. “Maybe we’ll get a glass of champagne in the hotel,” said Schmid to the slowed-down party.

“We’re just really happy,” he said, looking at the premiere. “The nations are hot for the medals again. It’s going to be mega.” The 23-year-old expects an exciting competition. “There are four or five nations that can fight for the podium,” he said.

On Sunday (10:30 a.m. ski jumping, 3:00 p.m. cross-country skiing) Germany will start alongside Schmid with Olympic champion Vinzenz Geiger, Nathalie Armbruster and Jenny Nowak. Like Schmid, the 17-year-old Armbruster also won silver in her individual.
