In an interview with star the former top German gymnast Kim Bui speaks for the first time about her eating disorders. And about trainers who not only strictly controlled their weight, but also interfered in their privacy.
Kim Bui invited to a former factory building in the Bad Canstatt district of Stuttgart. Vehicle parts used to be manufactured here, but today the factory premises are mainly home to start-ups. A place of change and therefore the perfect place for a conversation about her life, as Bui thinks.
In August 2022 she ended her career as a gymnast after more than 20 years in competitive sports. Bui, 34, born in Tübingen, daughter of a Vietnamese mother and a Laotian father, was one of the best gymnasts in Germany for two decades. In 2011 she won bronze at the European Championships on uneven bars, and in 2022 she came third in the team competition. Bui started eleven years for MTV Stuttgart; in her career she won eleven German championship titles.
