In Bavaria, women footballers play with the men – Chiara Matthes scored the first women’s goal

Women in men’s soccer? This is becoming more and more normal in Bavaria. The experiences have been positive – as with Chiara Matthes, who was the first woman to score a goal in a men’s game and otherwise feels very comfortable with the men.

Chiara Matthes still remembers the big moment in August very well. The ball comes in from the left, she is completely free in the penalty area and hits the net from about ten meters. “Actually, I just had to shoot him in,” the 19-year-old told the star.

What sounds so simple was actually a gate of historical importance. Matthes became the first woman to score in a men’s league game in Germany. In doing so, she wrote a small piece of football history. Just like the Bavarian Football Association (BFV), which has been the first within the DFB to allow women to play in men’s teams since this season.
