After Eva Pinkelnig won the Ski Jumping World Cup, the lightness of being flew with her. The 34-year-old from Vorarlberg finished third at the floodlit Raw Air event in Lillehammer, her 18th place on the podium in this overwhelming season. With distances of 133 and 127 meters, Pinkelnig only had to give way to the seven-time winner of this winter, Katharina Althaus from Germany (1st), and the Canadian world champion Alexandria Loutitt (2nd).
But that didn’t spoil the joy before the ski flying in Vikersund on Sunday, the training is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. “It’s going to be awesome, it’s going to be really cool on this monster baking,” said Pinkelnig, who physically feels reasonably fit again. “I found the balance good, it jumps very differently when you have a strong feeling,” said the ÖSV athlete.
Team colleague Chiaria Kreuzer improved from 17th to seventh place. “It’s a mixture of joy and sorrow. When it comes to ski jumping, you don’t have everything in your own hands, I’m happy with the second attempt. Now I’m looking forward to Vikersund,” reported the Salzburg native.
Her close compatriot Sara Marita Kramer is on the up and on the way to 13th place it clicked. “I came off quite well, it was definitely my best jump in a long time,” said the 21-year-old about her first attempt at 124 meters.
Julia Mühlbacher from ASVÖ SC Höhnhart was not dissatisfied after 20th place. The 18-year-old from Schalchen has qualified for ski flying, but she doesn’t feel ready to tackle the mega hill (hill size 240 meters) yet.
Hannah Wiegele finished 22nd, Schildornerin Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (SC Waldzell) did not get past 25th place.
