The dominator in the Super-G World Cup also set the last season’s scent mark in this ski discipline. Overall triumphant Marco Odermatt won the finale in Soldeu ahead of Marco Schwarz, who achieved his first place on the podium in a speed competition.

Former world champion Vincent Kriechmayr, who won the downhill yesterday, was one of the closest favorites. But after just a few seconds, the dream of a top result was shattered. The 31-year-old Gramastettner slipped on the inner ski and fell.

What looked harmless at first could have consequences. Kriechmayr then complained of pain in his right shoulder. “I’ll let her have a look. I can already feel something. It’s bitter in the last race of the season,” said the 16-time World Cup individual winner.

“I was a bit over-motivated, then my skis fell off. The track was better than expected, unfortunately I didn’t get much out of it,” he said.

His Super G season balance was not very pleasant. “She was rather modest. I didn’t perform and made a lot of mistakes,” said Kriechmayr.

The Austrian Championships in Hinterstoder start on Tuesday. Whether “Vinc” will be there at his home game seems more than questionable at the moment.
