On Sunday, the fight for the title in the Austrian Bundesliga begins with the start of the championship play-off. Will Salzburg win their tenth championship title in a row? Or will SK Sturm Graz, which is currently three points behind the leader of the table, succeed in breaking the dominance of the series champion? The coaches of the Upper Austrian Bundesliga do not believe in it. “Even if they are only three points ahead before the start of the final round and Sturm therefore have a remaining chance, it remains the same for me: Salzburg is playing in a league of its own, over the ten games they will be hard to beat,” says LASK- Trainer Didi Kuhbauer. Ried’s coach Maximilian Senft puts the distribution of chances in the title fight at 70:30 for Salzburg.
Two of the twelve Bundesliga coaches leaned out the window and predicted that Sturm Graz would win the title. Hartberg coach Markus Schop answered with a simple yes to the question of whether Sturm Graz would win the title. And Lustenaus too Markus Mader predicts a surprise: “I believe in Sturm Graz, that would be something different – if it’s Salzburg again, it’s normal anyway.” The majority of coaches bet on a tight race.

Ried with personnel problems
The relegation battle in the lower play-off is just as tight. For SV Guntamatic Ried, the first game at Wolfsberger AC (Saturday, 5 p.m.) also has a trend-setting character. With a point gain – or even a win – you could really draw the Carinthians, who are only one point ahead of SV Ried after the point division, into the relegation battle. The Rieder are struggling with personnel problems: Christopher Monschein and Christopher Lang are ill and will be absent as well as the suspended one David Hungarian. To the long-term injured Marcel Zigl, Stefan Nutz Nikola Stosic and Denizcan Cosgun come the stricken Philip Pomer and Leo Mikic. At least goalkeepers Samuel Sahin-Radlinger is training well again and could possibly return to the squad on Saturday.
Tickets available
In order to be able to win the championship title, Sturm Graz will also have to win the championship play-off in LASK’s first home game on Sunday, April 9 (5 p.m.). From now on you can also buy day tickets for this game.
Standing tickets are available for EUR 25 (children EUR 12.50), seat tickets from EUR 35 (concessions EUR 30, children EUR 17.50).
